Competition

The eco-lodge design is an exploration of the relationship between nature, architecture, and sustainability, inspired by the vastness and mystery of the desert. Its structure reflects the shape and fluidity of dunes, with curves and lines informed by natural wind forces. This approach merges the principles of classical architecture with modern, flexible, and sustainable design, creating spaces that blend with their environment. The lodges aim to provide an immersive experience in the sublime desert landscape, offering both a sense of awe and protection. Functionally, the design balances privacy and social interaction. The central hub acts as a gathering place, with spaces like an amphitheater for stargazing and a large communal table for shared meals. The lodges are dynamic and adaptable, with flexible partitions that allow residents to shape their space. A small patio offers a private retreat, while a north-facing terrace connects inhabitants with the vast desert horizon. This design fosters personal reflection while encouraging community engagement, creating a harmonious living environment in the desert. Sustainability is at the core of the lodge's design, using natural climate conditions to minimize energy consumption. The building features an innovative cooling system that harnesses the desert’s hot air for natural ventilation and water collection. A fog-harvesting system, combined with an evaporative cooling mechanism, ensures comfort with minimal electricity usage. Solar panels are integrated into the structure to further reduce environmental impact. This eco-lodge design integrates cutting-edge technology with traditional environmental knowledge, creating a space that is both sustainable and deeply connected to the surrounding desert landscape.
