Housing on the sea
Noblesser - Estonia
Competition
Noblessner is a versatile and rich place where industrial heritage and nature intertwine on various levels. On one side, there is a park, where the characteristic historical boundaries are overtaken by plants, and on the other side, the cold sea with its inherent phenomena such as clouds, wind, and waves. This juxtaposition of elements became the main connector and vision during the development of our entire concept. The northern glass facade is iconic, while also protecting the park and residential areas from the wind. Thanks to its various reflections, it almost transforms into a light structure—disappearing into the clouds and blending completely with the atmosphere. The glass facade is environmentally friendly, contributing to winter thermal insulation and enabling the creation of different enclosed balconies for the apartments. The southern facades create a dialogue with the park on that side. It follows the same pattern but in a more delicate way—creating a protective space from the summer sun. The core idea is connected to our understanding of boundaries, thinking about how to integrate the urban and natural contexts. The choice of materials and design aims to facilitate access, establish a visual link between the park and the sea, and ensure a protected environment, while also blocking the cold northern winds. Additionally, this design provides an opportunity to showcase private terraces on the first floor, offering gardens for both residents and visitors.
